Rewrite Your Past,

Release Old Hurt,

and Reclaim Your Confidence

Have you ever felt like your past keeps tapping you on the shoulder—no matter how many times you think you’ve healed it? Maybe someone said something that made you feel small, embarrassed, or not enough… and even years later, that moment still lingers in the background of your mind.

If so, you’re not alone. And there’s a way to finally shift it for good.

Today, I want to walk you through a powerful practice that helped me release a memory that held onto me for far too long—and how you can use it to rewrite your past in a way that supports your future.

The Memory That Kept Returning

Over the past few years, I’ve done a lot of deep inner work to rewrite old internal narratives that were shaping the way I showed up. A big part of that work has been through Neural Energetic Encoding, where we access the unconscious mind to understand how memories, emotions, and identities are stored—and then reprogram them.

Every time I worked on beliefs around playing small, doubting my abilities, or feeling like I wasn’t enough, my subconscious kept leading me back to one particular moment from childhood.

I was around 12, selling chocolate bars door-to-door with my best friend. She was this cute, blond, confident, outgoing girl that everyone seemed to love. And then there was me—tall, introverted, brunette, glasses… awkward for most of my early life.

We were walking down the street when she excitedly told me she’d sold another chocolate bar. I said, “Really? Wow. I haven’t even sold one yet today.”

And the boy she was talking to looked at me and said:
“It’s because she’s prettier than you.”

My heart dropped.

Even though I acted like it didn’t bother me, that moment carved something into me. For years, it reinforced the belief that I wasn’t enough. That others were more desirable, more wanted, more preferred.

And no matter how much inner work I did… my subconscious always brought me back to that scene.

Discovering Neville Goddard’s Revision Technique

That’s when I came across Neville Goddard’s Revisioning Practice.

Neville taught that imagination is the creative power of our reality. His revision technique is simple: before you fall asleep, revisit the events of your day and consciously reimagine them the way you wish they had gone.

Why?
Because the past only exists in your mind.
And if a memory only lives in your mind… you have the power to change it.

We’ve all experienced moments when two people remember the same event completely differently. There’s no “proof” of the past—only perception. So if your perception of a memory is hurting you, why not rewrite it in a way that frees you?

My Revision—and What Happened Next

So I decided to revise that childhood memory.

I got into a relaxed state, let myself slip into the scene, and watched it unfold through my own eyes.

The door closing…
The walk down the driveway…
My friend talking with the boy…
Me saying, “I haven’t even sold one yet today.”

And instead of hearing the sting that originally came… I imagined him smiling and saying:

“I’ll buy a box from you, Jess.”

Immediately, my mind pushed back.
“It doesn’t make sense. Why would a 13-year-old buy overpriced chocolate covered almonds?”

So I made it believable.
“It’s his mom’s birthday tomorrow. She loves these.”
Perfect.

I ran the scene again… and again… and again.
Ten times.
Every night.
For weeks.

At first, the old memory kept trying to jump in.
But slowly, the new one began to take its place.

I also infused the moment with new emotion—confidence, acceptance, support, and a deep feeling that I truly belonged. That I was enough.

And now?
When I look back on that day, the revised memory is what plays.
The old one no longer holds power.

You Can Do This Too

Any memory that weighs you down can be revisited, revised, and rewritten.

Not because we’re pretending something didn’t happen…
but because we’re choosing not to carry an interpretation that harms us.

Here’s a simple way to begin:

How to Practice Neville Goddard’s Revision Technique

  1. Choose a memory
Pick a moment that still brings up a negative charge.

  2. Recall it clearly
See it as if you’re there.

  3. Decide what you wish had happened instead
Choose a version that supports your healing.

  4. Reimagine the scene
Play it out in your mind with the new outcome.

  5. Repeat it until it feels natural
Your mind may resist at first. That’s normal. Keep going.

  6. Feel the new emotions
Let yourself absorb the supportive, empowering feelings.

  7. Repeat nightly for 30 days
Repetition builds new neural pathways and solidifies the shift.

Your Past Doesn’t Define You—Unless You Let It

You hold the creative power.
You define the meaning.
You shape your inner world—which shapes everything else.

When we revise the memories that once made us shrink, we reclaim the version of ourselves that was always meant to rise.

Here’s to rewriting the moments that once held you back…and stepping into a future that feels lighter, fuller, and entirely your own.
